Location Hanoi is one of the Oldest cities in South East Asia. The History Dates back to more than 2000 years. It is the Capital of Unified Vietnam. Due to its proximity there is predominately Chinese Influence. French Colonial rule over 200 years has also left its mark especially on the Architecture, Language and Cuisine. The city is divided into Old Quarter and Modern quarter. This is a City where you can experience the rich culture of Vietnam in it's original form. Hanoi does not have the Urban sprawl unlike the southern city Ho Chi Minh-formerly called Saigon. it is best to spend a few days here to enjoy and savor the sights of Hanoi. An highlight is a visit to the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre where live musicians accompany a wooden puppets show in water retelling the Story from Folk legends of Vietnamese history. Hanoi has four seasons. Summer can be particularly stifling due to high humidity. A particularly offensive cuisine popular in Hanoi is barbequed Dog meat. It is sold at street corners!!. Try it if you dare- FEAR FACTOR material !!.Depending on the time of year you may experience different things. The Lunar New Year called TET is an important celebration in the whole of Vietnam. TET usually falls between mid January to Mid February. Most Visitors fly into the Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi. Many International and Regional carriers provide flights to Vietnam. Traffic is Chaotic and Motorbikes and Bicycles swamping around it is better to take a cab or public transportation than to drive around yourself.
