Location

Singapore is an Island City State located at the Southern tip of Peninsular Malaysia. It is about 699 Sq. Km or roughly about 3.5 times the size of Washington DC. It is strategically located at the entrance of The Straits of Malacca, one of the world's most busiest shipping lanes. During the Sri-Vijaya Empire It was called Temasek. By the end of the 14th. Century the Sanskrit name "Singapura" (Lion-city) was widely used.

The country is a bustling melting pot of religions and races and where Indians, Malays, Chinese and other ethnic groups live together in harmony and in peace. English is widely spoken. This multiculturalism has brought about exotic cuisines and it is a gastronomical paradise. There are many ethnic enclaves that are interesting to visit and depending on the time of year the festivals that are celebrated. There are colorful festivals and celebrations throughout the year. Singapore is fast emerging as a cultural and Arts center for this region.

The Whole Island is an Entre-Port and is Duty free. Make sure get yourselves a good pair of walking shoes. It is a Shopping Paradise. For electronic Geeks head to Sim Lim Tower off Bencoolen Street. where almost everything PCs, Laptops, Cameras, AV Equipment, Components etc. is sold. Don't forget to bargain though.

For Ladies head to places like Orchard road where Designer Fashion, handbags, leather footwear, accessories and jewelry are sold in numerous Malls. This is uniquely Singapore.Perfect destination for Family travel ,Singles or Couples.

Almost all international airlines fly into Changi International airport. The Public transportation system is one of the most efficient in the world. The network of MRT ( Mass Rapid Transit) trains, Buses and taxis are not only cheap and efficient but the drivers are also HONEST (you Don't get ripped off).
