Nature Lover's and Diver's Paradise
Location Perhentian Island (Pulau Perhentian) is small group of Tropical Islands situated about 20 km from the north east coast of Peninsular Malaysia off the State of Terranganu and Kelantan. Historically it is an ancient stopover point in South East Asia for ships plying the South China Sea plying between Indonesia and Indochina. This is probably why it is called Perhentian (which in the Malay language it means One-Stop-Over). The larger island is called Perhentian Besar and the smaller one Perhentian Kecil. Nearby there are a few tiny islands- Pulau Susu Dara Kecil, Pulau Susu Dara Besar, Pulau Susu Serenggeh and Pulau Rawa. Perhentian Island Attractions:
This is a Nature Lover's paradise. On the Main Islands there are resorts and the main activity is diving, snorkeling and SEA sports such as Wind surfing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing and Swimming. The Islands on the most part is virgin un-spoilt Tropical Jungle. The beaches are lovely comprising of very fine sand. The waters are crystal clear and visibility can extend up to 8 meters. There is also abundant Marine and wild life and jungle trekking and boat excursions are interesting activities and provides breathtaking views of the island. There are also beautiful Hard and Soft Coral formations all around the Island. The whole Islands and the surrounding seas is a Marine Park. So please observe all the Park rules and regulations posted there and follow the guides briefing. The whole group of Islands is a Nature Reserve. Weather: Average Temperature 25C to 28 C. Avoid Monsoon months of November till February. Best Months are from March to September.
