Penang
Island has been a long time trading port
with merchants from South India.

Indian Trade and Commerce with the
Malay Peninsular dates back over 2000 years. Evidence of this found at the
Bujang Valley archeological excavations about 50 kilometers North of Penang
Island on the Mainland. This is another UNESCO site.

During the British
colonial Days Trade with India was greatly expanded and many People of
Indian Decent made Georgetown their permanent Home.

(CAT) ply the route between Weld Quay Jetty and Komtar.
