Brick and Mortar completed in 1789 with convict labor from India.

The tip of Penang Island where Fort
Cornwallis was located was called Fort Point.

Governor-General of Bengal, Charles Marquis Cornwallis.

In 1882 a lighthouse was erected on the
northeast side of Fort Cornwallis.
