Discover Cambodia Kingdom Of Wonder Battambang - Cultural Town
Battambang is the second largest city in Cambodia. It is located on the North western part closer to the Thai border. The Sangker river flows through the town providing an important base for the rest of north West Cambodia. The town is surrounded by picturesque hills, Parks and Temples. It is was also the former Colonial Capital and there are many Old French Colonial buildings. But the most interesting thing is there are statues of Mythical Beings in every conceivable position every corner of this Town. Battambang's main attractions are Phnom Sampeau, Wat Ba Nan, Wat Ek Phnom, Kampong Puoy, Prasat Snung, Centuries old Pagoda ruins, War remnants and the Cambodian recent Holocaust. Battambang is a good place to observe unspoiled Rural Cambodia. You can ride the Bamboo Train or Nori as it locally called. A simple flat bed motorized contraption that runs on disused rails which provides an important Transport service to the local folks. The best way to get to Battambang is by road from Phnom Penh.
